Sharing My Pain

My wife just called and said that UPS dropped a package off at the side door and ran. (Only a few grand in declared value. Only my dream of the last year and a half. What were they thinking leaving it without a signature, just dropping it on the side porch? But I'm not writing to dis on UPS.)

Here's my pain: I will be at work for another 3 hours. The drive home is 25 minutes. And my DVX is home waiting for me. How will I endure 3 hours and 25 minutes of this excruciating pain?

Thanks all of you for such a great site! I'm feeling like a real member with my DVX at home. Somehow -- with your support -- I will survive.

Re: Sharing My Pain

UPS and FEDEX are a bunch of ass monkeys. They're drivers are the laziest slack asses. They make over $20.00 an hour to drive a freakin truck and yeah they DO just drop **** off and walk away. What happens when the BOX gets stolen? NADA thats what. The DRIVER logs it in as DELIVERED.

Im ranting.

Re: Sharing My Pain

true that john. UPS literally threw my motorcycle helmet box on a table in my porch, which in turn smacked my roomates ashtray which crash landed on the floor in a million glass shards and somehow (i wish i knew how...) ripped open the box causing peanuts to go everywhere and made the helmet fall out... <deep breath> now anyone who knows about motorcycle helmets knows that a) good ones are expensive b) if they're dropped once, consider them garbage. grrrr!  >:(

Re: Sharing My Pain

Daniel, your comments would ease my pain and make me feel better ... but I don't know if mine is deffective! Or if UPS destroyed it as they threw it around their shipping centers, threw it on their planes, and threw it off of their trucks! Or if...

I'll feel better in a few hours (I hope). At least UPS doesn't have it to kick around anymore.

Re: Sharing My Pain

So, wait.... your wife called you and told you that it was left on the porch? How does she know this? Cause i'm thinking, if she was there to witness the drop off, couldn't she just take it inside?

Re: Sharing My Pain

I guess I wasn't clear. I'm not upset about it still being on the porch. My kids brought it inside (good thing, because it's windy and rainy). I'm just upset about not being home to open the box. I've been wanting one of these since before they came out and finally there's a DVX sitting in my living room. Unfortunately, I'm stuck here for another hour.

You have to understand. I work with some very nice DVCPro cameras at work. I've played a lot of cameras: Canon XL1s, G2, the Sony PD, VX, TR. But I've never actually been able to touch a DVX! I don't know anyone in town who owns one (Spokane), although I've heard there are a few. Our largest camera dealers (like OneCall.com) don't stock the DVX. Our tiny little rental places don't carry them. I've read the users manual, looked at every screen shot and sample clip I could find online. I've read adamwilt.com many times. I want to hold one of these things. At work, I'm in charge of encoding and deinterlacing DVCPro and BetaSP footage all the time. I want to capture true progressive for the first time in my life!

OK. I'm calm again.

Re: Sharing My Pain

DANIEL,
What was the nature of the defect, and was it 100 or 100A?
I am experiencing my own brand of pain.
