Shane Hurlbut Behind the Scenes videos, very nice.

I'm going to refrain from comment because I don't agree with most of Shane's recent decisions regarding cinematography. I hate to be negative so I won't.

But I do like his decision to take a T/2.8 stop. That is what I agree with!

Yeah, I read your post about that. Good work.

You gotta love the DIY carrousel on the carnival shoot though. Mounting the generator on top was pretty slick.

Great find. I really need to not do everything on set.

You and me both. I have always figured that I will know I have "Made it" in the movie business when "It's a wrap" is called, and I CAN LEAVE! (and know that everything that needs to be done, is being done). That ain't no time soon I'm afraid.

You aint lying my friend. I really wish I could spend more time with the actors than with the camera.

And I have to agree the carnival lights with the generator on top was pretty amazing. It's so crazy to see how much work really goes in to getting just one shot. When I fist saw the finished video a few months ago I thought they were at a damn carnival.

What I liked from that scene was the way that they controlled the bounce light. I really like simple bounce lighting.

I really appreciate how much Hurlbut goes out of his way to share his knowledge, much like David Mullen and Roger Deakins. I'd love to see more of these in-depth process videos!

The first time around watching that short i couldn't get past the cheese factor of shot selection and how the death was directed, still watching those behind-the-scenes (and i'm a sucker for those) made me watch the short again and even though it still feels cheesy like **** but at least i got to see all the cool tricks he used.

Yeah, I'll give you that the short itself does abound in cheese. I think the whole concept is pretty second semester film school. BUT, I looks very good. I do appreciate the BTS stuff, for sure.
