shake's flipbook not working

I'm very new to shake, (obviously, I can't even get the flipbook to work)

So does anyone know a reason my flipbook doesn't work?

I have the globals set for all the frames. The node is active. I click the flipbook icon and it doesn't do anything. I right click and made sure that in the dialogue box all the frames were selected, but when i click render nothing happens. My computer doesn't even makke a sound like its trying to do anything.

I've got to be forgetting something.

Do you have the full version of Shake or the demo?

Can you render out a FileOut node? Can you right click on the node and use Render to FlipBook?

Well I think it's the full version. I bought it after apple brought the price down to $250. That's still the full version right?

Actually i'm following the steps in the shake pro traning manuel from peach pit. And the flipbook is the last step in the first chapter. So i can't get farther than the first chapter. :(

but to answer your question: No I didn't try doing a fileout node. I'll try that tonight. And I have right clicked on the flipbook button on the viewer and that didn't work. I tried clicking on the render tab on the top of the screen, and that didn't work. But I didn't try right clicking the node. I'll try that too.

I followed the steps directly from the book, so I don't know whats wrong. but I know that I've had the program for a while and havn't done anything but fool around with it aimlessly. So I'm worried that I might have changed a setting or something weird like that. I doubt it, but I can't think of another reason it isn't working.

Do you know if the settings are reset to defaults after each use? Or is there a way for me to reset them?

Thanks for the tips I hope they work. I'm really itching to get into this program but I don't want to continue with the book if I can't get past the first chapter.

As a last resort, try to reinstall the app. Make sure you delete the "nreal" folder in your main user directory.

I seem to recall having the same problem when I first did the Peachpit tutorials. I think that the first tutorial in that book may have the wrong key command for playing the flipbook (check the manual for 5.1). Also make sure that the flipbook is the active app when you try playing it by looking in your dock. That was the other simple user error I managed to commit when I was learning the app.

Hope that helps.
