Shake and FCP

Hey I finished the Apple Pro Traning Book for shake and it helped a lot. However all the lessons were files on the DVD that came with the book. My problem is that now that I know how to use Shake I can't get any of my footage to work with it. I mean I send to shake but the finished render doesn't make it back to FCP. So i tried justt exporting a clip from FCP, saving it, then using a file in node and searching that clip. Then I apply the effects or whatever and attach a file out node.

How do I get it back to final cut? All the file out creates is a script or something. I can't figure this out......

Thanks

On the book DVD there is a folder ccalled Book Appendix,
it contains a PDF file called FInal Cut Studio Workflows.
On page 30 of the PDF is the start of the explanation
of round trips from FCP to Shake and back.

If you look at the parameters of the FileOut node,
it shows the file name and format of the file
generated when you rendered it.

Excellent answer from Rebus!

Another approach would be, if you have a Shake project that you want to export
to FCP (instead of the round-trip described on page 30 of "Workflows"),
then:

1. Attach a FileOut node to the bottom of your tree.

2. Double-click the FileOut node to note (or change) the file name
and location (imageName).

3. Set fileFormat to Quicktime.

4. In the Render menu, select "Render FileOut nodes".

5. When the render is finished, go to FCP, do command-i to import
the rendered quicktime file.

Cheerio,
Les
