sgpro with cinevate flip, anyone?

Is anybody using an sgpro with a cinevate flip? I would like to find out which flip (letus or cinevate) works better on the sgpro...

Regards,
Michael

I never switch out to Cinevat's or Letus' flip as I work in Sony Vegas and flipping hasnt effected my workflow... and secretly fear of any change to my current picture quality.

Initial reports are that the Brevis Flip is changing quality of the image, but for the better. This is something that Dennis has maintained for sometime, and the few reports that are out seem to back that up... But, it's just second hand info to me at this point. I hope to be getting my hands on a flip unit soon to see first hand if this is the case with my footy.

The SGPro flip module is made by Letus.

The Cinevate flip module has been said to work on any of the adapters. The flip is 72mm so if the SGPro is the same, should work without any modification (step rings, etc.) Otherwise, you might need step rings or something.

Later,
Jason

I am just wondering which one works better. Just from what I heard about the flips the cinevate flip seams to be a little bit more sophisticated since you can correct for an offset sensor... Letus doesn't give you this option yet, right? (I heard they are working on it and are waiting for a patent)

Are there any DVXuser form LA who own a letus flip or a cinevate flip or an SGpro? We could meet for a test and compare booth flips against each other if there is enough interest in the subject. I am probably soon going to order an SGpro...

I think the positive effect of the Cinevate flip has to do only with the Brevis which can make use of spacers for edge to edge sharpness and the flip unit provides a lot of distance traveled by the light within itself so that you don't need the spacers anymore... not 100% about it though... you know I don't have an adapter yet :)

Yeaaahh, after hours of research over the last months, I finally pulled the trigger and just ordered an SGpro myself...

Can't wait to see how the SG works with Cinevate. The image centering on the cinevate has me sold. A This should be a standard feature with the competition as uncentered images seem to be the standard with camera manufactureres.

ll that's left to be seen is how it effects edge to edge on the SG and build, etc.

I just ordered the sgpro without rails and placed an order for Zacuto rails.
(and I bought some Apple shares which will hopefully fix my hole in my walet hehehe)

Camera flipped means no need for anything else to be done other than reading your screen info upside down...

I wouldn't flip the camera.... I saw that and while it might be better for post and the wallet it will burn a hole in your production speed... can you imagine going through the menus upside down once you got used to how they are sideways?

I love deleting e-very-thing that I am 100% sure I will not touch since I am my own editor I have a very good idea of what is completely useless for myself later on on the editor's chair and I just wouldn't be able to do it as much like that... switching frame-rates... tweaking the scene file... not when you have a full day...

Nice going on the rails man!!! Apple shares... Zacuto gear? you must be a trust fund baby! :)
What are you doing for lenses?

I got an AIS and an AI nikon 50mm 1.4 both in excellent quality from ebay. I am probably going to sell the AIS version. At the moment I am looking for a decent 35mm 1.4 and a 85mm 1.4. Not easy to find especially the 35mm 1.4. I was even thinking about buying it new or grey market (they sell grey market on B&H for around 680.- or so). At the moment this is too much for me to spend but if the shares go up I might change my mind :)

Should have my 35mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.4 for sale in a week's time. All AI in great condition.

why are you selling? Looking for the 35mm 1.4 AIS version since it has 9 aperture blades instead of 7...
