SGPro Vs Redrock M2

The only way to know for sure if you have vistavision is to compare it with what you see in a 35mm still camera.

Also there is the test that Hien from letus suggested. ( I haven't compared this to a still camera yet though) He says put a 50mm lens on the adapter. put the GG exactly 2' from a wall. Place a piece of 11x17 inch paper on the wall in landscape orientation.
When the side edges of the paper fill the frame then you have vistavision. For academy he says use an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper.

oops- I may be explaining that wrong though because it doesn't work for me

With my still camera I get full SLR frame on the 8.5x11 at about 1'9" and the 11x 17" @ about 2' 9"

I'll check my SGPro later

By teh way Tim, I'm using a Rev2 that shouldn't make any difference to the Vistavision thing should it?

i have a rev 3 so i don't know if there is a difference between 2 and 3. Len if u do hein's test ..can u state what z# you will need for the A1 for both vistavision and academy?

Even with using the hard mount on the M2, We never got nearly as good as an image as we get with the SGPro Rev3....

I get rid of vignetting at around Z65...but I always shoot at z75 on the HVX....it gives it the closest lookt to 35mm it appears.

the achromat and GG are the same. on the rev2-3, i think the rev3's tube is like a cm shorter.

I'd be curious to hear what other people are using as zoom numbers for the SGpro on the DVX as well. I usually go to about z77 to eliminate any fall-off on the edges as well as hot-spotting in the center. You can definitely get away with zooming out more, but z77's never failed me. I wouldn't want to use something like z72 unless I had a monitor without overscan to reassure me. For 35mm frame sizes, my quick test ended up with z85 - which seems like a lot, but that's what I got. I need to do it again, probably, last time was without a tripod so I'm sure there was some degree of error.

For me HVX200+SGPro rev 2 it is betwenn Z70 to Z75. I can' t go as low as Z64 to Z69 without getting some vignetting. I always check again when I change lens with the Nebtek monitor.
