SGpro vs M2

I see so much footage of HVX with M2 on this forum but very little with SGpro2, and at the same time I hear on most pages that SGpro2 is better than M2, sharper at least. How this can be? I guess most of the people are from US from where M2 is native, and SGpro is from England. If SGpro is made in US I guess we've would hear a lot more about it. Is that true that SGpro is better than M2?

Check out the brevis as well. Shorter set up time than the other adapters and way less light loss. A lot of people on this forum are using it.

Yeah there is allot of hearsay on the forum. It would be cool if someone who owned each adapter could get together and shoot a rez chart and put the adapters through there paces. I have never used the sgpro (seen some great stuff with it) but the brevis and m2 are great!

Click on "35mm Shootout" at the top. Great review with all 3.

I like the Sgpro more, its looks sharper to me (based on posted footage). When it comes time for me to get at one im looking to Sgpro or Brevis.

jason, yeah i read that. i kinda wish that wayne wasnt there or that wayne, dennis and brian where all there. I can dream right..

I chose the M2 over the sgpro due to footage shootout's I've seen (obviously not always the best way to make a choice, but it's what I had), the M2 footage looked better to my eyes. After having the M2 for the last couple of weeks I'm more and more excited about the purchase. I'm also very excited about the add-on products Redrock is coming out with (remote follow focus, matte box, micro x image flip adapter, etc...)

I'm sure most of the 35mm adapters are going to give you the Depth of Field you're looking for so you have a good chance of getting great footage with all of them.

hope this helps, good luck.

dee- well, I doubt Phil wanted to fly over Dennis from Toronto or Brian from Dallas, so there you go. :) But it is the only 3-way review that I know of. I ended up getting the Brevis because I like the ability to run-and-gun without rails using shorter lenses. I think all three give great results if you get them dialed in correctly. Then it's just a matter of personal taste.

jasonfox, yeah i agree u cant go wrong with any of them. I have the brevis and m2 and posted some tests a while ago. They where far from scientific. i will try to do some more after spyfest, after i put CF3 in. :)
