Some very down & dirty and unscientific (ie, point & shoot) frame grabs from the new SGPro 35mm lens adapter. Shot with a variety of Nikkor lenses from 35mm - 210mm in HD at 720/24P. Let me know what you think. I love the depth-of-field (or lack thereof). But... They all look soft to me (which could be operator error & there several variables top contend with).

Thanks!

you can achieve shallow depth of field without a 35 adapter if you know how use the lens on the hvx and light properly.

sorry but these images don"t convince me.

As you say, it's very soft and more, the blurred areas look faked, photoshop styled.
There is a circle of bluriness (?) on most of the shots, it doesn't seem to be a focus problem.

Which lenses did you used ? Because i'm purchasing a set of lenses and want to know...

Yes but it needs a much bigger set. The use of a mini35 system is very useful in (not too) tiny spaces.

*Sigh* ....If i had a dollar... :)

Yes I agree that the HVX has a great shallow dof potential, but it has limitations. As mentioned, small spaces can really hurt along with many other disadvantages. I do have to say I was surprised by the HVX dof capabilites. But the age old defence of the HVX stock lens against 35mm adapters for dof ability is tiring. A honda civic can go fast but it's no excuse not to invest in a BMW or Corvette if speed is what you desire. This is just my opinion. The hvx standard lens also has its advantages but dof isnt one of them.

To Beach TV: As to these stills, the edge sharpness is way off. It looks like only the center of the images are in focus. Try working on this setup, you're on the right path. Those images look like my vision after 8 beers. :)

Try again and post more!
