SgBlade - need setting?

It does seem a little soft over all, you might check your back focus, can you shoot a chart it will tell you in technical terms of what's up? A 50mm and a 28mm should be sharper in general that this appears! Now this is speaking from a tech point of view, you may want a soft look creatively, But it still looks good , just a little soft!
Cheers

Its hard to tell why it looks soft. Sometimes you are clearly not focused on the subject.
Generaly incorrect backfocus (collimation) will mean your footage marks are off and perhaps you can't get to infinity focus but you usually can get good focus somewhere by eye. Overall softness usually means your detail is too low ( usually up it for the adapter) or you're video camera is not focused properly on the blade screen.

My own experience with the XHA1 and a Brevis was that the Detail needed to be upped as the results were way too soft for my taste. Also it is really hard to focus that camera.
Do you have an external monitor?

Hi, thanks to all.

No, I don't have external monitor, only little lcd of camera.
I will try to set the collimation (distance of lens mount) and back focus ( better) and let you know.

thanks.

I downloaded the file from Vimeo and at least part of the problem is the compression settings for the .mov file you used. There is a lot of compression "noise" that adds to making things look soft.

Which NLE are you using? I've never been able to successfuly create good looking .mov files even with QuickTime Pro on a PC without it looking washed out. I've used some of the "work arounds" you can find on the net but still it isn't as good as say a .wmv file. Mac w/FCP seem to have better luck with .mov files.

I recommend that you add a bit more light to the scene so you can stop down the 35mm lenses a bit more. That will help with shapness.

Did you mention which RotoRazor you were using? I may have missed that.

Hi,
FCP, for this little edit .
Yes the lens was full open, especially the 28mm.
The RR was 2.

Thanks.
