SG Flip Questions

Who has one that can tell me how far I have to zoom in on the HVX to safely lose vignetting. Also, I need to know if there's any edge to edge degradation. I'm on the verge of buying one but would like to hear from some first hand experience?

i'm not sure if anyone has it yet... i know of a few people who have it on order, but not anyone who has it... wayne said that the image didn't appear to be any different, possibly a little bit sharper, but he wasn't sure... the SGpro with the flip has a slightly longer light path than the non-flip, so you would have to zoom in slightly more.

no actually you kinda dont have to zoom in further.

Tim if i remeber correctly it was about the same as a standard SG...

The flip i have just has the wrong condenser. Easily remedied. Wait till Hien sends the upgrade.

ask wayne.
this is what he answers about the flip with his camera:
"Hi,

Yes, settings are different on the flip than on the standard SGpro. You need to zoom in a little more. On the FX1, for example, the standard non flip needed a zoom level of 18mm on the zoom ring, but needs 23mm with the flip.

The camcorders focus is set closer to infinity with the flip in place.

We are seeing a slight sharpness increase"

Wayne is waiting for some lenses to come in before he can ship the flip modules. I have one on order and it should be with me by the middle of february, earlier with any luck.

I did ask wayne about it when I went to see the setup and he said it didn't really alter the optical path much other than turn it over.... As far as I know though, they havn't tried the flip on an HVX....

Just had an email from Glenn and im very excited to learn my SG kit will be ready for collection wednesday/thursday. Very good news :-D I will comment then.
