I am not exactly sure why my other thread was closed. If someone can inform me of what was wrong with it? I'll try not to do it again. Hopefully it wasn't the topic sex vs violence.... bc here i am again.

anyways, okay, so... i'm writing an essay about why sex shouldn't be rated harder against than violence in films. what examples of movies that couldn't get the R rating for being too sexual? also, why should sex NOT be rated harder, and why SHOULD it?

sorry, i'm just really stuck.... and it's a garbage essay anyways.... any help appreciated

Im confused by your question. Are you asking for opinions as to whether Sex should warrant a higher rating than Violence? Or are you saying it shouldn't?

Personally, I think sex is a harder sell (rated higher) because its easier to distinguish than violence. With sexual acts, you see a private part, its R. With violence, its a slippery slope. How much violence is too much? A bloody fistfight? A car explosion? A graphic war film? When do you draw the line?

To me, its not which is worse SEX vs. Violence its whats easier to identify as harmful to children. My .02.

hmm.... so, by being easier to identify it's rated harder. you thihnk that is fair? why are we so uptight with nudity and sex opposed to blowing heads off etc. that is my point, sex should NOT be rated harder against. but, i am having trouble arguing for that topic.... hence this thread....

Violence is everywhere. Like it or not, we live in a violent world. So, in a way, violence is less taboo than sex because we see it so much more. Sex is very private thing for most people.

And I agree with Rim7189's comments.

sex is private..... for most... i agree. but does that make it worse than violence?

and just because there is so much violence everywhere, does that make it okay? shouldn't that worry us even more, and make us realize that sex in movies isn't nearly as bad... we need to stop promoting constant violence....?

You're missing my point. It's not a question of which is worse than the other. Of course 2 people banging is much less harmful to the world than someone getting their head blown off. And no, of course violence is not okay.

I'm just talking about what's more taboo. Good luck with the essay.

yeah, i see what you're saying. and please don't take my comments as actual personal attacks... i'm just tryin to incite more conversation. i am 5 pages in, and can't change my argument now, so i need to come up with a good argument as to why sex should NOT be rated harder against than violence. at this point, i'm not sure i even agree with myself, but, it's too late to change now. so, that's why i'm asking her for some advice. sex is definitely more taboo than violence, in this country at least. but, i guess that's what i'm arguing, should it be? european countries are much more liberal with their sexual films, are they worse off than us...?

WHat haoppend to my post???????????????????

Can someone please tell me why my post was removed? Bring it back!

i don't know what happened to your post either... perhaps there's something the DVX mods don't like about this topic, since my last thread was closed. so, anyways, the essay is done now anyways. thanks everyone for the comments

I guess talking about REAL LIFE Issues like SEX, POLITICS,RELIGION,LACK OF EDUCATION is to much for some people?

POLITICS, SEX, VIOLENCE,RELIGION, LACK OF EDUCATION are all directly connected to one another. I didnt say anythying that was untrue or shocking.
Anyway, good luck on your paper.

Well, now that you mention it, talking about REAL LIFE issues like politics and religion is, actually, not allowed on DVXUser. Those subjects can be discussed elsewhere, but on this site we just don't go there.

Since this is starting to heat up already, it's time to lock it down.
