Setting up to use Senn 416

What setting is correct for the Senn 416 -60db or -50db? And more importantly, what does this mean? I read on another forum where the mic documentation is supposed to say, but I couldn't find it. Thanks.

50 if you go straight to the camera , 60 if you recording mute peple :-)

-50db is less sensitive then the -60db... by whatta' ya' know, 10db... if you set your DVX for -60db with THAT mic (or an me66) then a gnat fart will blow the inputs.

The -60db setting is for dynamic mics... like ENG stick mics... and other insensitive microphones.

Pro cameras take it one step further with a -35db setting... if we had that in our cams then maybe I'd like the me66 for something. As it is it's almost too hot to even use it.

I'm still waiting on my 416... the suspense is killing me!

You are right! Yowza! Shot Thurs/Fri at -60 and had to turn the inputs way down. Next time I'll bring my 302 mixer and use that to ride the gain. Those itty-bitty dials sure are hard to use. Big ol' semi went by and almost blew my ears off.
