I am trying to figure how to set up my external monitor which is a 1080p HDTV to the rest of my system so I can look at the playback outside of the computer screen.
My current set up is only showing me 1 frame of video even though when I play my footage back on the time line, its playing at normal speed. On that monitor, its showing a frame of video and remains a frozen shot until I start/stop the playhead again.
Now I have a Sony GVD-1000 that I use for a deck (for now) I am still shooting SD and have not made a 100% switch to HD yet.
I have a FW400 out of my Caldigit hard drive into the Sony GVD1000. I have S-Video/RCA audio coming out of the Sony to S-Video/RCA audio into the back of the TV/Monitor.
My guess is that I am having my problems because one half of the equation is a digital signal, and the other half is a analog signal.
Even when I go into FCP and select VIEW and click on Video Playback, I have that set to Apple FW NTSC 720x480.
My clips are all 1280x720
If it makes a difference, I do have a DVI to HDMI cable I could occupy the other port on my graphics card and see if that solves my problem. Another theory is I would need a breakout box made by someone like AJA or Matrox or whoever .
Anything else I should try with my set up?
