Dear all

i am new to XLR mics and was wondering if i am setting up dr70d right for run-and-gun with at875r.
The instruction is a bit basic and does not explain the difference between some settings.
I use 3.5mm jack to output to gh3 for sync and monitor audio of dr70d phones output.

BASIC settings on channel 1 i use are:
gain - high
input - xlr/trs

MONITOR
output gain - cam

INPUT (ch1)
input gain - mic +phantom

RECORD
dual rec - -10db
sample - 44.1
format - waw 24bit

MIC
phantom - 48v
ms mode 1/2 - off

I would appreciate any advice on using dr70d with at875r.

regards,
denis

Well first off you should be using 48k as your sample rate. 44.1k is used for CD's and so is common for music but video is 48k.

Everything else looks OK but someone who actually has your combo should coment.

gain - high
> This would depend on the source volume (SPL) and your microphone's sensitivity, so we can't say if that's right or wrong. Obviously a loud source (like a band) usually needs a lower gain setting.
FWIW, when faced with a preamp that can't be metered pre-fader, I set the volume fader to unity (usually 60 to 80% of full) and adjust the preamp gain to obtain good levels.
On many consoles and mixers, unity is usually denoted as 'U' or '0'
