setting audio levels

we have a lot of audio clips recorded at diff. volumes...while rough editing we have been going into the viewer and adjusting the too high and too low volume clips..this makes a sequence at least more tolerable to work on...

so we have 2 q's:

1) when we send it all to soundtrack pro, will it be poss. to further adjust INDIVIDUAL clips...(i am esp thinking about the ones that we maxed out in the viewer to 12 db. over. that were STILL too low..) or is sondtrack's parameter limitations the same as the viewer in FCP

2. does soundtrack KNOW that some clips have been adjusted already in FCP or does it recieve them as they originally were...

thanks lllllllllllllll !

You will be able to boost low volume additionally in STP with a Normalize or Adjust Amplitude. STP does not know what FCP has done, but when you Send To STP Audio Project, it makes a copy of the file so that your edit is non-destructive. When you're done, save, close STP, poof, the new file is there in your Timeline and in your Browser.

One small warning. If you are going to go to an audio post then you should try not to alter the files ie going back and forth to STP. Let whoever is doing post have the originals with and OMF transfer. If this is all happening in FCP and STP and you wont be sending the sound to be worked on by someone else then go for it.
