Between them they have almost 6000 posts. Does it really seem likely that their mission at DVXuser is to deflect criticism of the board? (if you think that, then you really don't kow Pookie :) ) THey will hijack a thread however when it appears to be beating a dead horse...

lol.. thats like me saying ive drivin around fo rhe last 2 months and never noticed that the car i was in had a steering wheel.

you know how to tell if someone is a moderator.. it says "moderator" by their name.
..pretty simple huh.


...and enough bout all this "free speech"stuff .."free speech" doesnt mean you can shout "fire " in a crowded room. and it doesnt mean you can run thourgh your neighborhood swearing at the top of your lungs at 3 am .. and it doesnt mean you can tell a police officer that your going to pull a gun out and shoot him in the nuts ..it doesn give my daughter the right to call me a doody.. and it doesnt mean you can call up the whitehouse and say your going to come and blow it up.. and it doesnt mean you have the right to keep irritating the people who help control these boards by spamming mulitple forums with the same stuff after youve ben told not to over and over again. .. all of these things will get you into trouble.. artist or no artist.. artists have to play by the rules too.
..you cant take a dump on your neihgbors patio set and call it art.. and think its all OK.. your going to get in trouble for it. lets get real here.

..as painful as it was to just read this thread because of all the irritating continually resurfacing qualities inherant in the nature of the thread..(aside from the delightfully inventive hijacking) lets all try really hard to let this dead horse sink to the bottom.

I understand cross-posting (Term?) is considered a no-no because it's redundant, etc...

I disagree. I disagree because I do not jump around all over the WEB, from board to board and read the same material. I don't have the time nor the interest, I have more important matters at hand. So while some of you find the cross posting annoying, I find it to be fresh information.

Please consider others, such as me and stop such a policy.

For those of you that surf the boards, you can always skip over reading redundant information, you can't be that helpless.

Redundant information is not harmful, restricting information is harmful.

(I'm shocked that in the information age there are some who don't get it, redundant information is good. It takes a while for a message to get through and often has to be repeated multiple times...see many of Barry Green's Messages and you'll see what I mean)

If you want the board to be important and helpful then we need all the information we can get, and we need moderators to help keep it organized so it's accessible.

Good god, the guy's banned. I'm pretty sure more than 80% of the users here could care less if he's gone. He's not coming back, consider him dead! Can we move on with our lives now?

Hmmm, do I have a "compulsive personality disorder"? I had to read the entire thread!

Damn, I hate it when that happens. I loved and also found Pookie's attempt to hijack the thread distracting.

I found Michael Pappas' article interesting, but over-flowing with a subtle narcissism, that I couldn't shake. It was a weird sensation, and I can't describe the discomfort I felt after I read his article or many of his posts.

I'll believe the moderators of several sites, when they say he did not respond to their requests to reign in his cross-posting, but it does worry me when I see someone get banned. I think most of us consider that a nuclear option.

This topic really generated a lot of eyes looking at this thread, though. Maybe it's a conspiracy to get more people to read the forum :)

@10s ... so it seems you're talking about the inet as it was several years ago.. never heard about the problem of information overflow.. to much redundant and unorganized information?! If you look at the pbase site of Mr. Pappas.. that's a good example.. it is totally chaotic and unorganized in my humble opinion.. and so were most of his postings.
And what would be the point of basically all the same threads and postings in parallel on all the DV boards? Why the hell should then there even be more than one? What's the point? Well if you don't have the time to check all the boards - in particular this one - than just leave it! It's free for gods sake and nobody orders you to come here... and you don't pay for it.. so if you don't like Jarreds policy... well you know what...

Jeez.. sorry but I was personally involved of the development of several software tools that were provided free of charge for home/private use... and I'm really p*ssed by people who take stuff for free and than come and moan about it or demand changes etc.

I'm still waiting for someone to chime in again with "So, why hasn't this been addressed?" because they came in on Page 19 of the thread and didn't bother to read the entire thing. And then they'll threaten to 'Never Visit' again and then they get mad at the jacking.

And as far as TC and Pookie highjacking; what can I say? Dude had a gun.
