I think it's fair to say that you'd have to be crazy to do this:

That said, I wish it were my job!

They should have a fear factor steadicam episode! That would be sweet.

Hey pookie, did you know that if you do a google image search for steadicam that picture shows up at the top of the third page? YOUR FAMOUS!

Sorry, I'm about to hijack this thread from being hijacked; but these are too strange to not be posted:

Thanks TC, but I do know a few people who would say "infamous", I've been in the industry for a long time, and have made a few "special" friends.

OK, if he did that I understand but guess what, no mod has come out and said that and if I've missed it, point me to the post.

I have no problem in forgetting the whole thing if it's justified, I just haven't seen any attempt at justification - at providing proof of this insistent spamming and that's all I've politely asked for several times. Believe it or not, I'm pretty reasonable and don't get all stuffy and sulk if I'm proved wrong. I just believe in fairness and I felt Michael was unfairly removed from here (And I assume other boards too if he was doing the same - whatever that was). If he deserved what he got, then good riddance.

Anyway, mod silence has worked. They don't seem to want to respond on this issue, so I guess it dies - no more posts from me but it's not really fostering "community" is it?

Wait, I'm confused. How is this not cleared up already? Mike basically spammed the hell out of a variety of threads with the exact same message.

That's irritating. End of story.

And for the record, the Pookmiester and I have done nothing wrong here. Except lighten the mood in a situation that has been blown far out of hand. As Barry said, hijacking is an inevitable part of this community! So just chill out!

There is nothing to prove... The mods emailed me several times over a week about his cross posting and informed me of the private messages sent to him to stop.. I myself did as well, asked him to chill out and he still bombed threads faster then we could delete them.

It was fair play, but privately i have resolved the issue with him, there are no hard feelings but he screwed up, and not only here but everywhere he could. It takes alot for me to ban people, he may of been only the second person I have ever banned from this board.

GOOD LAWD! 235 post!!! I threated to hijack this thread but I guess Pookie and everyone else beat me to it..

Dam you Pookie!!

Thank you Jared!

As a user I did feel there was something that needed proving - to me that is - as part of a decision as to whether I keep visiting here or not. If I feel someone has been severely and unfairly dealt with, I like to get some info and make an informed decision about whether that's a community I want to be part of. I don't care what others think or feel about the issue, if they think it's a joke or couldn't care less if I left. It's a personal thing. It does seem from what I've finally started hearing from several people now, that he was post bombing. And so I can understand why things went like this. That's all I ever wanted.

Just a guy who likes to push the envelop. Nothing wrong with that. Michael uses his real name. A troll would never do so. It’s very easy to accuse him of being a troll.

Mediacre you are right, Michael was not a troll. The thing that upset most was that he was posting the same thing on three different forums and as such that makes for uninteresting reading on three forums. People show up and they see that the same conversaton is happening here as they did over at creative cow and at DVInfo, and it is simply not interesting enough to stay. Michael is not a bad guy, he is actually a good guy, the problem was making the Cow, DVXUser and DVInfo all seem like the same place. This does not drive traffic to each of the forums, it in fact drives traffic away.

It was pre-meditated and harmonically executed. Calling it a coincidence is really daring our intelligence. Was that a reason for the ban? Oh yes you bet! Was it a fair? How can it be?

Read Ron Lindeboom's statement on the Cow. Ron is probably one of the most well mannered men in this business and patient to a fault. I think if we just give it time, everyone can grow from this. Let folks cool down.

>Michael never said only an idiot would buy a camera that needs $2,000 cards for five minutes of shooting or "Panasonic is screwed, the HVX is stupid. He's not 12 years old.

Well I don't think that Barry said that Michael said that, he was giving an example of trolling.

What or who is there in common between our the 3 boards? Find that answer and you will find the reason.

The common thread was Michael.
See:

Sorry Jarred, I don't normally point to other forums but Ron was so eloquent in his response.

Despite all the fun poked at the matter, for many who don’t even seem to know who he is, this seems to be just a sad case or censorship.

Just read Ron's post and you will hopefully understand. Michael is not a bad guy, this will all blow over. And we will likely see Michael surface again and there it is. It is the different perspective that each of the boards have to "sell" that brings them advertisers and an audience.

Michael is not a bad guy, he really is a good guy at heart and I am sure that he will be back. If not here, he is still over at DVInfo.net.

Anyhow we should just let this drop and go on about our lives and talk about why we are here, to learn about technology, the craft, etc. Finally to paraphrase the old sage "What happens on DVXUser, stays at DVXUser." or "what happens at creativecow stays at creativecow." That is the way it is supposed to work.

All the best,

Jan

Maybe I am just tired from staying up until 3:30am, but I think there is a larger more sinister conspiracy at work here. I may be newbie at DVX user, but in the two months I've been reading these forums I have not seen posts by TC or Pookie. Now, when a controversial thread comes up, these mysterious figures come in and try and "highjack" the thread with disturbing pictures! Are they the goons of the sinister moderators coming to brush their dirty laundry under the carpet by bringing this thread off topic??? hmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think this is the most bizarre thread on DVXuser ever! ;-)
But thanks for Mr. Hudson, pookie etc. for giving me (and hopefully others as well) a good laugh!

For what it's worth... I personally hate cross posting as well and when I read the name Michael Pappas here the first thing that came to my mind where all his cross posts over and over again on all the main DV sites. And of course his yellow press like headlines... and well sorry to say that - but most of his articles didn't contain any "new" information.. it was just information gathered from various other posts or places thrown together most of the time and he sold it like a totally new idea or insight...
And now seeing his reaction on this matter (or Mediacres postings sort of defending him) just make his impression even worse!
Hopefully he will think about it even more and he will behave better in the future...
Noah Kadner has summed it up quite well I guess. ;)

PS: pookie do you know how many of your fellow steadi operators they used up for "Strange Days" ... the first person pov sequence at the beginning (the robbery) when the guy jumps from one building to the other and falls to the ground... looks sorta like a stradacrane where they just released the guy and let him fall :-))
