I would loved to be banned! As someone stated to me awhile back " bluespider does nothing but post worthless information."

Go for it! My time here is done..

WOW!
i just read a nice long apologetic post from pappas, and now it's gone.

you guys are QUICK!

pppssstttt!!!

i saw which moderators were online when it happened....

who wants to give me a dollar?

I read the Pappas letter too, it was really good & thoughtful. What is going on here?

"Panasonic is a major advertiser on the two web sites that i was banned from.
My posts on a third web site; 2-pop.com get delted as soon as they are posted. All of this is happening by one person that happens to be a moderator on all three sites. This individual also has a close relationship wth panasonic."

Just to be clear... we dont take a dime from Panasonic, in fact, as ironic as it is, DVXuser is the only board that Panasonic does not advertise on.

He was not banned for saying anything bad about panasonic.. cause i dont really care if someone says something bad about panasonic.

Jarred, what's going on. It's weird from my end to read all this stuff and try to understand what the big deal is all about. Aren't we here to talk about cameras, film making etc... what can be so explosive?

The DVX is a great little camera (that's why we are here) and we know the HVX will take the market because of it's superior features...so help us understand how sharing ideas can be so dangerous that someone is banned. I don't get it. This makes the DVXuser site look bad.

Can I ban myself or can 'I ban myself' as in you ban yourself?

can 'I ban myself' as in you ban yourself.

toe-may-toe / toe-mah-toe

:cheesy:

It's simple. NOBODY was banned for sharing ideas. I thought we addressed that already.

Whatever the actual detailed reasons are for the banning are between Jarred, Michael, and whatever other moderators were involved in the process. But it had nothing to do with sharing ideas.

Well help me understand what on-line behaviour is out of line. Was someone threatening?, obscene?, disrespectful? flaming? etc... did I miss something? ...you know us filmmakers, we love drama.

I enjoyed reading PappaArts contributions as I also enjoy yours, Barry. I find this an interesting case to understand and it's a little disturbing. I just can't figure out what I'm being protected from.

Unfortunatly, most posters here fail to understand how business works, whether it's a manufacturer, studio, or otherwise.

It's a simple matter......

The what, who, how and why are very clear to see, and it's how things go.

I've worked for enough studio's, DP's, directors, producers etc, this is nothing new.

btw, this forum is very well "read".

and 10s, you'll never run into the same problem.....

From what I understand, the reasons are private. Again, I was not part of the process, but I have been assured that the comments I have made on the process were accurate (i.e., it had nothing to do with writing an article, for heck's sake.)

Regarding your question as to what's out of line -- I thought I outlined that earlier in this thread. There's no hard and fast rules, but generally you'll run afoul of the mods if you flame someone, engage in personal attacks, start namecalling, drag other boards' dirty laundry into this one, or talk politics or pornography. Spam-bombing the board would be another really bad thing to do. Libel and slander would be frowned upon. In general, hating is frowned upon. It's tolerated to a large extent, but if all someone wants to do is rag on or bash something, take it elsewhere.

Thread hijacking is okay, in fact it's pretty much required. Stupid posts, taunting newbies, pookie's pictures, Kai's pictures, and things like that are generally approved.

Common sense stuff, really. Play nice and have fun. This is a community for sharing information, discussions, workflow, new products, community-type things. Stepping outside that is when the mods start to take notice.
