Sequence settings question

Hey guys... I have a project that I've been editing. Today I took a look at the sequence settings and noticed that it is set to HD (960x720) (16:9) and this concerned me.

I logged and transferred RED raw r3d files and have the log and transfer settings at RED FCP L&T plugin / RED Digital Cinema REDCODE / Apple ProRes 422 (HQ).

When I dragged the footage (after L&T was completed) from the browser into the timeline it automatically adjusted my sequence settings for me.

So... Why am I only in a 960x720 environment when it should be so much more than that?

Does anyone know? I'm assuming that the L&T bumped the footage down to that size from it's original 4k state but damn, all the way down to 960x720 is crazy! Am I understanding this all wrong?

Also, am I stuck with this or can I make it a 1920x1080 setting without re-editing the entire project all over again?

What are the RED clips in your browser sized at? They should be something around 2K...

Yeah then start a new sequence- drop one of those into it. Accept the auto conform sequence settings option. Then cut paste all clips from the other sequence into it.

Hey Noah,
I just did exactly that and it worked but now in the Canvas window it looks like it's showing the footage as a 960x720. I double checked and the new sequence and all of the footage are set as 2048x1152.

Example:

I tried resizing it in the Canvas window but it doesn't size up properly and as you can see below, I have a couple hundred clips to try to resize somehow lol.

Do you know how to get the Canvas to properly reflect what the sequence and footage are set at?

Reset one clip. Then Apple-C to copy it. Then Edit>Paste Properties>Basic motion. That will reset all the clips to their proper size.

When you say "reset one clip" are you saying to go into the Canvas and resize it by dragging one of the corners? If so, I did that but it's not resizing properly. See below:

Here's the same clip dragged in from the browser:

Basically the same clip was brought into the timeline two different ways. One was dragged from the browser and has no issues and the other is copied from the edited 960x720 timeline but still behaves as if it were in a 960x720 setting.

When I right click on both clips in the same timeline they both say 2048x1152 but they're displaying differently.

I'm banging my head against my desk trying to sort this out, lol. I really appreciate your help Noah.

ahhhhh I got it! Thank you Noah!

I right clicked on one of the clips, removed attributes and selected basic motion and distort.

All set.

Thanks again.

Exactly- the clip was remembering it's scale and aspect ratio setting from the 960x720 sequence. You just needed to tell it to revert back to its original size/aspect.
