sequence settings for 24pa

I shot in 24pa and captured using advanced pulldown. My clips in the browser are 23.97. What should my sequence settings be.

Should I have it set to progressive or interlaced.

When I export will it be better quality if I use an uncompressed 4:2:2 timeline setting set at progressive?

Is there much quality difference between dv/dvcpro compression as opposed to uncompressed 4:2:2.? Isn't it compressed using dv/dvcpro when captured? Therefore how can it go back to uncompressed 4:2:2?

What should the audio settings be for my sequence?

Thanks.

If you are using FCP 6.0, go to the "Final Cut Pro" menu and choose "Easy Setup."

Select: Format - DV/Panasonic DVCPRO, Rate - 23.98, and Use - DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) Advanced Pulldown Removal. Then create a new sequence and you will be all set; this should set your audio correctly as well. To double check, simply make sure that your audio settings for the sequence match the audio settings for your clips in the Browser.

There is no advantage to exporting 4:2:2 uncompressed in your case. Your footage is already compressed with the DV codec - it can't go back to to 4:2:2 because it never was 4:2:2 to begin with.

Hope that helps.

If you shot with the DVX100 the DV is encoded to be 4:1:1, there is no 'going back'. DVCPRO HD does have the ability to record 4:2:2, but that's a different camera...
