sequence setting nightmare

my editor edited a bunch of sequences in 1280x1080 with matching pixel aspect ratio when the settings should of been standard 1080p. footage is 7D 60p and 1080p 23.98... when pasting the clips from the old sequences in a new sequence with proper settings, the clips are compressed to 4x3, not wide screen... how can we fix this?

In FCP you adjust under motion and the aspect parameter. In Premiere Pro under motion and scaling horizontal. In Avid apply an image resize effect and scale horizontal.

are you sure they are compressed to 4:3? I would think they would appear smaller (a box with black around it). Try double clicking a 720p clip, go to motion, and change size to 150% and see if it helps...
