I should know how to do this, but it hasn't come up for me personally. I remember someone posting a way in FCP to separate a stereo file within FCP to allow for individual pan & volume adjustment of each channel. I want to say it was in the modify menu, but I can's see anything like that.
Usually I just go to WaveLab and create 2 mono files, then pull those into the project, but there are a lot of takes: 2 camera angles with necessary audio on them, one stereo file of the Board onto a D-50, then 5 mono tracks of individual stage mics. The Stereo file is a board feed, but the sound man was sending me one channel way loud, and at varying levels. And I have to line up the board feed with multiple start/stop camera angles, so I need to be in FCP to adjust the varying levels, then actually flip the channels at one point when the performers accidentally switched the mics around.
Anyway, a little help is needed here. Thanks!
