Hello,

can you please tell me how I could go about filming weddings and recording the sound separate to the film? What equipment will I need? also, how could it be recorded so that the sound is clear?

If you would like me to give you more information just say :)

Thanks
Martin

how about do some reading
there is the first lead- weddings cinematography is documentary cinematography .

read the stickies at the top of the audio page and use the search feature. that question is very vague...

...and has been answered hundreds of times. Recording separate at weddings is no different than recording separate in a movie project. (There's your free hint for the day).

I use a FR 2. Plug into the board or use a mixer for more than 2 mikes. Sometimes you can set up by a speaker and got ok results. Of course you need decent mike.

The stealing a feed from a speaker tactic is sneaky and actually very effective... I've even clipped a lav onto a speaker before (obviously lots of attenuation), and got nice results when we were late arriving to a press conference and we couldnt get a PA feed. it gives a nice "live" sort of feel that the PA feed is often completely lacking. I still do prefer the PA feed mono-summed to one channel, with a boom (hyper usually) picking up an atmos track so final mix can do a dry/wet mix.
