Separate caches for FCP and Photoshop?

I am setting up a new internal drive in my Mac DP G5 and will be creating a partition for use by Photoshop to increase performance. Do I need to create a separate partition for FCP in addition to the one for Photoshop or can the partition be shared without a performance hit (assuming I'm not actively using both programs at once). Also, what would be a good size for a disk cache for FCP. I normally create a 20 GB cache for Photoshop to use.

What kind of drive set up do you use? Me personally, I would have a sererate cache for FCP on a working drive seperate from my system drive.

Thanks for your response. I'm adding a second internal 300 GB SATA drive in addition to the internal SATA drive with my system, applications and documents (including FCP files). I also have some removable tray drives from Wiebetech that are Firewire 800. Would I be better off partitioning the new internal SATA drive into one main storage partition and two separate partitions - one for Photoshop (20 GB) and one for FCP (20 GB) and then leave the rest for other kinds of storage? Do I need to put my FCP files on the same drive as my system is on or on the second internal drive or one of the Firewire drives?

Thanks,
