Sennheiser MKH-804

I purchased an old Sony C-74, a shotgun mic from the early 90s, for $100 a few months ago and I was having an extremely difficult time finding a zeppelin that would fit it (17.5" long).

Just today I happened upon an Ebay listing for an old Sennheiser MKH-804, apparently from the 1960s, which included a 24" zeppelin as well as a power supply and cables for the 804. I was really just interested in the Zeppelin but now I also have a secondary shotgun mic, though it does use t-power instead of phantom.

My question is, does anyone know anything about the MKH-804, sound quality and such, or how using a t-power adapter might effect performance? Information is pretty sparse on the internet about these early Sennheiser mic. The Sony C-74 is comparable in quality to the MKH-416 and the NTG-3. Could I count on the mic to deliver a similar enough sound to use them together on a project?

Thanks

T-power (aka, AB power) would have little effect on the quality (if everything is working and properly applied)
Both those mics are old, long, heavy shotguns .. The Sennheiser may even have an old Tuchel connector. The pwr. supply is another device to carry around and feed batteries. (or AC) If It were me, I would choose a 416 or NG3.
FWIW, I had a 816 and hardly ever used it, so it was sold, I eventually bought a AT4071 for a specific gig, that's been sitting unused for 4 or more years.

I'm assuming that is the reason I'm able to get these so cheap which is okay for me because I'm on a tight budget but how was the sound quality out of your 816?
Also, though the C-74 is long and heavy it still runs on 48 volt phantom power, so it isn't too much of a hassle.

Magic word: investment

Sometimes you have to "offer" something, to invest... Don't go on holiday... buy cheap clothes, don't by that fancy car, don't go out every week...save money...do other jobs... So you can buy "decent" material and don't have to buy old and maybe not working material....

Whatever floats your boat.
The 816 sounded good.. A huge investment, considering the cost of the mic and $600+ accessories to go with it, to only use once in a blue moon. If $$$$ wasn't a factor, I'd still have it. BTW, the 4071 wasn't exactly 'cheap' either.
