Sennheiser ME66 mic

ScoobySounds you look like the guy who understands audio. Tell me do you recommend Sennheiser's HD 25 headphones for monitoring audio on shootings? Or do you recommend something else? But in reasonable budget range.

there are many people here who understand audio more than me, thats why this place is great!

HD25's definately, thats what I use!

the HD280's are more comfortable, cheaper and still very good.

Great, tell me do they give clear, raw sound and not boost some effect like bass or something? Cause I understand that they are used by DJ's also. And ofcourse, for shooting you need as realistic sound as you can get. And can you tell me are they really that comfortable as people say? Thanx.

cam mounted mics suck unless you're alone and have zero set up time. those are the only excuses, and even then, dont go crying when you dont like the audio :)

Shotguns I use:

AT4073A
ATM57 Not available outside Japan About $700 USD: http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/proa...m57/ATM57.html
Senn MKH418S - bought it almost new for about half price....

the ATM57 has more throw than an at4073a and about same quality. I love this mic at 2ft its beautiful...on a camera at 5ft its still good. Your going to have to pay to get it to the US though. About 700 plus. If you want one I have link to dealer..... just in case anyone is interested.

The Cash - there is no such thing as doing well in a camera-mount situation. Period. Will it capture something? Of course. Something useful and usable? NO.

(Well, you will capture lots of camera noise, so you will know your camera is operating correctly - I guess that qualifies as useful).

Phil is of course right. Yes, they will capture, but you wont like the sound. Thats why so people post here saying "how do you get that film dialogue sound with my mic?" - part of the answer of course is to get it closer to the subject, which a cam mic 99% of the time cant do.
