Sennheiser me64 vs. the AKG 480b with ck63.

Here's another little impromtu showdown... really this one is no contest and I didn't expect it to be. Maybe I should have put on a radio-show announcer's voice for this one...

I have to give a big thanks to Joe K. for supplying the me64... he was also kind enough to bring his Schoeps mk41 over again... so we should have some fun listening over the next couple of days.

Although it's still no comparisson, I feel inclined to say the me64 sounds much better than the 66, am I too wrong?

Yeah, the me64 sounds better then the me66. I still wouldn't put NEW money into the "me" series.

If you've already got 'em and a few hundred bucks is a big deal to you... keep 'em. I only recommend exactly what I did when I heard the difference in the ME series and other mics... I sold my stuff on ebay at a fair BIN price within about 2 HOURS... then I put a couple hundred with that and got a 4073a.

I obviously also like the AKG modulars... if modular is your thing.

Good mics just don't cost that much more then not-so-good mics. I mean, we DID spend over $3K on our cameras right? It's only a couple hundred (at MOST) additonal cash to get way better stuff so why not do it?
