Sennheiser ME-66 vs. MKH 416

Hello. I'm hoping to get some advice on whether to purchase the Senheiser ME-66 or the MKH 416. I'm shooting on both a DVX100b and HVX200.

Is there a big difference in the audio quality of these two mics? I know there is a huge price difference ($479 vs. $1,099.95 at B&H). Is it worth the difference in price? I don't mind paying more if it's really noticeable.

I'm shooting broadcast documentaries and commercials, so sound is critical - especially since a lot is done in the field. I'm hoping that someone has used both and can tell me the difference.

Thanks.

Wow, there should be some kind of a blinking/flashing arrow or something for us newcomers that says there is an "Audio" forum at the bottom of the main page.....

Your answer is probably revealed in that forum.

LMAO!

Your answer has been beat to death in that forum.

Welcome to the board, guys!

The audio forum is one of the best places here (IMO). Cruise over there, read the sticky's, do a search (one of the most underused functions of the forum), then jump right in. You're amongst friends.

And yes, the 416 is more than worth the money, and the ME-66 is not worth it's price (and I own both).
