Sennheiser Lavalier interface cable

Hi all,

I'd like to find a cable to direct connect my Sennheiser lavalier microphone to cameras, digital recorders, mixers, etc. when I do not need the G2 Evolution transmitter/receiver.

Does anyone know of a cable/connector that interfaces from a Sennheiser lavalier microphone (3.5 mm threaded male) to a traditional mic cable, such as a XLR, TRS, or 1/8" mini? So one one end I need a threaded female 3.5mm connector.

Warm Regards, Michael

As part of the adapter you'll also need a power supply, either phantom powered or battery powered, for the bias voltage. A plain adapter cable won't do it even if you find one that mates with the Senn's threaded mini.

Use the Sennheiser MZA 900P adaptor.

It has a lockable jack socket on one end and and XLR-3 at the other.

You will need 12 - 48V phantom power from a mixer or Beech Box (or similar) to power it.

Aha John,

Many thanks for the lead - I think now that I know the correct terminology, I was able to search for the correct part:

Locking 3.5mm female (jack/connector/adapter/etc)

Don't forget that the little ME 2 (and ME 4) microphone requires about 5V plug-in power - this is supplied by the transmitter.

Also - the mic. is unbalanced and should not be connected as it it to ant extension cable, or you run the high risk of picking up RF interference.

The MZA 900P adaptor has an internal circuit board - this does two things: firstly, it balances the mic., so the output on the XLR is fully balanced. Secondly, it is a DC converter that takes phantom power from 12 to 48 Volts and turns it into the 5V plug-in power that the microphone needs.

You should not connect the mic. to a cable any other way.
