Sennheiser k6 range?

Hi

I have the Sennheiser k6 module and me66 shotgun and I want to get a a good cardoid for reporting/ interview situations and figured as the Me64 fits the K6 module its the obvious choice?

But are there better mics out there for the job by other brands that would be better at a similar price as buying an me64 ( about £135 GBP)?

Or is sticking to the K6 add ons going to be the best bet?

Thanks

thanks phd :-)

I hear alot of people being quite down on the me66 on the forum and I wonder whether some of this is due to the fact that in an ideal world one mike would do everything right.... this is perhaps why the more diverse a mike is the more popular it is (which is fair enough). This is maybe why the Oktava 012 is quite appealling with the diversity the 3 heads bring?

But the thing with the tests I have heard is that when you are recording a single person talking indoors the me66 does not sound amazing - so everyone says its not so good.

But if you were buying a mike to record a single person speaking indoors in a studio booth the obvious choice would not be to use a shotgun mike anyway...

A cheap $50.00 lav can still sound nice and 'close' like the me66 can't. But it won't have as much clarity and top end from what I am hearing.

I don't know if you'd agree with me but my conclusion is for general filming indoors and out you probably need atleast 3 types of mikes:

1. A shotgun for outdoor/ indoor use ( eg me66)
2. A decent cardoid ( for studio applications, indoors and voice over etc) (me64)
3. A wireless lav ( or 2) for out and about etc. ( e.g. senn 112 G2 pack)

Ok that reads like a sennehisser promo - it was not meant to be :-)

I always hold on to an SM58 as a general workhorse too.

Needing a few mikes is obviously a bit of a financial pain but to me seems like a kind of reality.

Me66 can't do everything on its own and back onto the ME64 - thats why there is the me64 cardoid option for different applications...

Please correct me if you think I am wrong

let me know if you want to add some nice wired lavs to your k-6, I am selling some (mke2 gold and mke104).

I think the sytem is nice as you can use one power supply with many capsules. The me66 is a fine shotgun for eng work, broll etc.
