Sennheiser K6 + ME64?

Hi

I am about to pull the trigger on the Sennheiser K6 + ME64, but are a bit in doubt about if it is the right choice.
I originally bought a MKE600 and really like it, but it is too big on my minimum setup and it is also very bad in windy weather even with Rycote etc. So I only use it with my Rycote Zeppelin and a boompole. I have read nice things about the the ME64, but I have not really heard it a lot...there seems to be a lack of reviews and videos showing how it sounds in different setups etc. Does anyone here have it, and will you share some videos or soundbites where it has been used? I woul very much like to hear if it really is the best choice.
Please also write your opnion about it compared to other mics.

Thx in advance.

I much prefer RODE shotguns. The Sennheiser K6 power supply has a plastic XLR insert which eventually will loose its grip on plug-on transmitters. RODEs have an all-metal XLR inserts and sound just about as good if not better.

I have a RODE NTG1 and have used it a lot before, when I used my old Pana HMC151, but now I am using GH4/GH5 and like to have a small not to long mic in combination with sennheiser wireless lavs. I often have to record in the field in very different locations with windy weather, etc. And I want a mic as close to an all-in-one that is possible. And that was where I read about the ME64 as an alternative. I just haven't heard it enough yet to decide.

The ME64 is a cardioid design and would be OK indoors, but probably would not have much 'reach' outside. Many folks seem to like the equally low cost Audio-Technica AT875R which allegedly works decent inside, though it's also an interference tube design (shotgun), like the MKE600, though it's shorter, @ about 7" (as I recall).
In case you don't know already, a camera mounted mic is about the worst possible place for dialog pickup, and even the most expensive mic won't sound very good.. it's ok for nat sound though.

Tjx...oh I know that oncamera mics are no good, but 98 % of the time I am a one man band, and have to do both filming, sound, interviews etc all by my self and at the same time. I have troed lots of mics through time. I have the NTG 1, the Zoom H6 with all mics, Rode videomic, Rode stereo videomic and now KME600.. Everytime I have had wind issues...only a blimp works. But I have heard a lot saying that the ME64 with a Rycote Baby Ball Gag should be the quite a combi. I need some additional sound besides from interviews etc and without wind issues and as I am alone Imcant use the blimp everytime. i need oncamera sound thatnworks ok in windy conditions.

I have a K6 + ME64 that I am selling, PM me if you are interested, I'll make you a good deal. Also have the ME-66 too that will work, then you would have a cardioid and a shotgun.

Yeah it is plastic, but I picked up a used one which looked like it was used a lot and no issues with the XLR insert.

I never thought of using a Rycote Baby Ball Gag before on a NAT mic before. Have you tried the wind furries? So far I've not encountered any issues, but I haven't used them in areas where there are strong winds.

Don't. (and this comes from someone who owns a K6 + ME66 + ME64)

Exception: if you find an amazing cracking good deal on it secondhand (like I did).

To buy them brand new is crazy overpriced when you see all the competition there is out there.

Plus for an on camera mic (which seems to be your desired purpose?) the ME64/K6 is going to usually be a poor choice.
