Sennheiser G2 Wireless Mic Not sure what to do

I have 2 Sennheiser G2 Wireless Mic Kits:

The first one is the A: 518 - 554MHz

The second is the C: 740-776MHz

A friend gave me his which is also the A: 518-554MHz

So I plan on selling one of them. Just wondering if it is ok to keep two that are on the 500 frequency?

I like my 500 series Lav way better. The 700 series does work but I get a lot more interference....

I feel like I should sell the 700 but not sure if I should keep the 500 and 700 or two 500's is the basic question.

If I sell the 700 I feel a bit bad if some people are saying the frequency doesn't work that good...I am in LA and on a whole it does work I just have more issues with it?

It's not a matter of how well the C block frequencies work, it's the fact that these frequencies will soon be A) illegal and (probably more importantly for most people) B) unsuitable for wireless mic use. Once the DTV transition happens, the 700MHz band will go to public safety use and the people who have purchased the remaining chunks; these are probably all going to be much more powerful than wireless mic systems, so they'll make it impossible to use systems on those frequencies.

You shouldn't run into any problems using two A-block G2's simultaneously as long as you set the channels properly.

i've got an A, B and C. but i'm going to continue using my C until it no longer works, which could be for who knows how long. but you can sell your C units to oversees users, who don't have the DTV issue.

what sucks is, sennheiser recommended that NC use the C band. so i know atleast 8 other people with C packs.

You can certainly use two wireless lavs witin the same frequency block. I'd try to sell the C band unit to someone in Canada or overseas, as they are not affected by the FCC aucton of 698Mhz - 800+ mhz.

While you can stilluse a C band wireless... why take a chance getting trampled on by some governmental agency radio in the middle of your shoot. Not my idea of a fun time.

this is all really good advice

so 700 band is going to the government when?

is the 600 and 500 bands going to be ok or are they soon going to be obsolete soon also?

How would you recommend selling the 700 sennheiser? Ebay? Any other suggestions and should I suggest to people outside the US or let someone buy it that is in the US?

you can sell them on ebay or try using another used audio consignment website like gotham, trew or location sound.

The other bands are going to be fine for a while; however, there are all sorts of people who have their eyes on that chunk of spectrum (the so-called "white spaces" between TV channels) for internet access and possibly other uses. I've been told by someone who works for a major wireless mic manufacturer that they think wireless mics as we currently know them will be gone in three to five years, but it's hard to say for sure.

It's worth mentioning at this point that Sennheiser will give you a certain amount of credit if you "trade in" a Block C system on an A or B... It's not much, but then again I don't know how much you're going to get out of a Block C in the first place.
