Sennheiser Ew100 VS EW500

Hi fellas

From my knowledge, the g2 100 series and 500 series uses the same rf technology.

Other than fact that 500 series is balanced input and has a headphone out (which can use as a iem), what other differences are there?

Considering to invest in a pair of g2s but is stuck at the choice of 100 series or 500 series because of the big difference in price. I am looking at the range and the quality in sound.

The range and quality should be exactly the same. You do get battery contacts on the bottom of the 500 for recharging. There's also some extra software, additions to the menus. For the most part, I'd say just to go with the 100 series and splurge on upgrading the lav to something like a Countryman B6.

I'd order before the end of the year though. Sennheiser is getting killed because of the Euro vs. dollar difference. Thus 2008 is going to mean higher prices. (G2's are made in Germany).

Battery contacts at the bottom? would that mean that 500 series allows DC power up?

Thanks for the heads-up man, better make my decisions before x'mas c:

Don't waste extra money on the 500 series... aside from the charging contacts the only other significant advantage is phantom power in the plug-on transmitter.

I had both and I used them indiscriminately... I saw no advantage of one or the other. If Sennheiser raises their price on these enough to break the $600 mark... and Lectro keeps the 100 series prices steady... then I'd suggest you save for another month or so and get the Lectros.

I had both at the same time and it depends on having the 100 lectro WITH the 100mw transmitters. The 100 lectro with LM transmitters doesn't gain you a whole lot over the G2... better? Yes. Way better? Probably not... but with the 100mw transmitters the 100 lectro is a significant improvement over the G2... and I think worth the price if you can afford it.

The Sennheiser 500 series is an enigma to me... I don't see the point in it at all aside from the plug-on having phantom... but if you were going to spend the cost of a full 500 system you'd be way too close to the price of the lectro.

hi. my original plan was to for now save up for 2 sets of 100 series g2 with sanken lavs. then later on get another g2 with the 500 series plug-on (the freq works.) but now seem that lectro 100 series is the better option as later on i could upgrade to the 100mw transmitters.

question: can the LM works with the UCR201 ? or can the 100 series lectro work with the UM211?

??? I'm blur. Just saw the manual for LM. It seems its digital hybrid wireless can work with all the other lectrosonics wireless. Just need set the modulation
