Sennheiser 916 vs Rode NTG-1/2?

How close is the Rode in performance compared to the Sennheiser?

If I get either of these, could I use the DVX100B mount or would I need another?

What kind of wind protection do you recommend? I´m not going to be filming in rather still weather.

Thanks!

light years away :-)
don't know anything from sennheiser with 916 name
if you refer to 416 - its much better mike

better to use better mount but frankly its waist of money if you intend to use camera mike position only , might help against the handling noise but not for actual mike placement .
if it for camera only - the ntg 1 is a good choice
the rode making fury which sit over the foam for outside, might be enough , if not k-tek and rycote making softy style protection

Thanks!

Yes I meant the 416 and I fixed the error. I just read an interview with a few V/O pros and some of them used 416 for V/O.

So it seems that this mic is pretty good and versatile, so it might be a good idea to buy it....or a cheaper mic that is very close....but I guess there isn´t any..

After doing much search and thinking, I think I´ll start with Rode NT3 and see how it works inside and outside. I´ll just keep it close to the speaker and try to avoid noisy places.

If it isn´t good enough outdoors, I will probably add the AT 4703a and use the NT3 for indoors and V/O.
