Sennheiser 416

I'll be simple - I'm looking for a cheaper version of the 416. What is out there? I'm terrible at knowing about sound etc. But I've used the 416 on every single shoot I've ever done and have never had a problem. I need to buy a mic now, but can't afford the 416...what is comparable?

Look at a used 416 or 416T - they can be had for about the same as a new 4073a (or even less if you negotiate right. :-)

What Phil said... the only thing that's like a 416 but cheaper is a used 416... if you don't like that option then get a 4073a... still a great mic and actually a bargain for only $499 new (www.locationsound.com)
 
What about Sanken CS-1? I think it sounds better on interior than the AT, good side rejection, great size. Same price than used 416.
 
Well, considering the original poster says he knows the 416, and there are lots more used 416's floating around, I stick with my original recommendation.
