I'm thinking to rec with my 416 directly into the above mentioned recorder. I'm going to record dialogue of a short movie on location.
I'm i going to have a good quality sound?
Anyone tried that?

Best to all

If you haven't already purchased the Nagra, I would recommend you look at other options - in that price range you can go from the Tascam HD-P2 to the Marantz 671, to the Zaxcom ZFR-100. I think you will be better served by either the HD-P2 or the ZFR-100.

Hi Phil,
thanks for your suggestions.
No, i didnt buy the Nagra yet. I've checked your suggestions and the HD-P2 appeals me much more than the ares M. wow, 2 Xlr with supposed hi quality preamps for that price tag!

You can do a search here on the Tascam - there have been lots of discussions about it. I will tell you that some have said it feels flimsy - I don't get that. I've used mine in bag situations many times and it is very sturdy. Also, it does have a time code limitation - it does not have TC out capabilities, so you have to use a different source as a TC master if you are using TC. I use my Denecke slate as the master.

Other than that, it is a solid option, especially for the price.
