Selling HVX'S

It seems that a lot of people on this board are selling their HVX'S.
Why? Is everyone switching to XH-A1? Or the RED camera?

Hmm...
 
Yeah, I've noticed a big jump in people selling their HVXs. My guess is the EX-1.
 
They probably bought it for a particular production and are selling it back after the production has wrapped.

Since each production has different requirements, they might shoot the next one with an HVX or with another camera that better suits the budget or story.

I don't think they are abandoning the camera for another. Most likely those sellers are the 'project by project basis' guys.
 
It does seem like a big reversal from just a few months ago when people were salivating for an HVX in the MarketPlace forum. People selling HVX cameras were besieged by offers, PMs, etc. Now, I'm noticing HVX cameras taking longer to sell and (it seems) more of them available. I know a few people who have sold their HVX cameras for various reasons. One, sold his HVX to buy an EX1. The other, did so to help finance a new house.

My wife and I were just discussing whether we should stick with the HVX or go for the HPX. Since we spend 90% of our actual shooting time doing run and gun location stuff for industrials and interviews it is hard to justify the cost of the HPX. Besides, the size and portability of the HVX still amazes me for what it gives you.
