Selling Comics

I pointed out in another thread that I want to buy my wife a new camera. To finance this I am thinking of selling some of my comics. I have a bunch of Silver Age stuff, DC mostly. That's where most of the valuable stuff in my collection is. They are all bagged and in VG to Excellent condition (most of them anyway)

We don't have a big comic book community here; no conventions or anything. The dealers that I talked to all admited that they would only give me about 10 cents on the dollar of the book value.

Any body have any tips? I'd like to move it in chunks, not one at a time on e-bay. I realize that I could get more selling one at a time, but I am trying to balance the money against the amount of time it would take.

Thanks.

Thanks Sirius. I've been to some of those stores. Most of the guys are nice enough, but selling to a dealer probably won't get me what I need. a dime on the dollar if I'm lucky.

Yea, I just figured I would get some advice here since I trust the people on this site...well except Hudson...and TC. Actually I'm not sure about JPBanks either...

Hey, let me know what you end up doing. I have a ton of comics I'd like to sell as well. Be sure to post what you found in here. Cool?

Thanks.

Golden Apple advertises that they buy collections...but I don't know what kind of price they'll offer you.

I don't know **** about comics, but as with most other stuff, dealers are dealing for profit so you end up giving your goods away. Seems to me you need to get this info in front of the end user and haggle from there. I would do some research into the collection to find out the market value and then post on e-bay or collector forums, my 2 c.

That's good advice, and I've done that. The book value of my collection reaches over 8K, but nobody will pay that. I'd like to get between 2 and 3. I know I can get more going onesie twosie, but I just don't have the patience for that.

Basically I want someone to knock on my door, hand me 3 grand and haul 'em away...that's not much to ask, right?
