I've been looking at companies that basically handle all the *paper work* and all you have to do is ship your movie to the buyer. They take care of all the credit card and bank stuff - along with customer service.

The only 'nice looking' and reasonably priced company that I have been able to find is BuyIndies.com.

Has anyone here dealt with them? Or know of any other companies that do the same thing - maybe at a different price? I have looked into the PayPal Merchant gateway accounts (not bad) and also Filmbaby.com (didn't like the website layout - you also have to ship your movies TO them and they ship to the customer)

Anyone dealt with BuyIndies.com or knows of any other companies. Wa' chu guys think? What do you guys use?

I deal with FilmBaby, BuySwag.com and Amazon.com

Amazon does the most sales, but takes the highest cut and has an annual fee.
BuySwag charges 25% and will integrate the store into your personal web site.
FilmBaby has only sold 2 movies in 6 months. By far the worst (the account was free so I set one up).

All of these folks keep inventory in their own warehouses, but I prefer it that way.
 
Yeah I noticed it was only music - at first glance. Owen, how did you get them to sell your movie and how much do they charge? What sort of "system" do they have and/or provide. They dont really advertise that they do movies on their website.

(from all my searches I've done, BuyIndies.com seems to be the winner) But I might just sell them through the PayPal Merchant account.
 
A friend of mine knows the BuySwag owner, so we got hooked up with them from there. The sales agreement they sent me was boilerplate, so I don't think they were doing me any favors. They don't advertise my stuff... it's up to me to promote the movies on my own site. They merely process and ship orders. I ship movies to their warehouse and they take it from there. They provide me with login info so that I can check sales, and they cut me a monthly check for my sales. 25% to them 75% to me. Customer pays shipping so that doesn't factor in.

I currently have my site running PayPal (non-merchant.. just the free shopping cart), but that is just while I wait for BuySwag to update my store with my other three movies and re-do the design to match my new site. The PayPal setup is running fine without the additional merchant account fees (http://www.thesugarcreekgang.com/store.php) However, I'm getting tired of personally shipping every order.

Thanks for the great info Owen. Yeah I guess it would get a little tiresome to SHIP every single DVD. And 75% aint to bad. I'll PM you if I decide to give it a try.
