self distribute shorts

A short by itself is not likely to turn much of a profit but consider a compilation of shorts or a short with several hours of interesting behind the scenes type footage. It is really hard to convince someone to spend money on just a short though.
 
If you are looking to make money out of your shorts just pick some that you think are your best and submit them to a bunch of different festivals/contests.
 
There are large numbers of companies who buy and distribute short films.

There is a grwoing market for shorts for companies who distribute through the internet and put content on mobile phones, ipods etc

Don't believe anyone who says that you can't sell them, it's not true.

Film markets are a good place to meet distributors.

Even TV channels will buy them sometimes.
 
There are a number of shorts on Netflix. Some of them are pretty awful indies. Awful -- but fun -- is 'Spacemen, Go-Go Girls, and the Real Meaning of Christmas'.

So obviously shorts can get distribution. It's more rare than features, for sure.

What kind of shorts do you have available? (And don't say 'boxers'!)
