Self Contained Movie File Issues

I am having some strange issues trying to export my project as a self contained file. I have made several attempts and I keeping getting a message that says:

"FILE ERROR I/O"

I was finally able to successfully export it out after 5 attempts. When I went to open the file on my hard drive, it said FILE CANNOT BE OPENED! Also the file was saved to my folder on my HD where I save finished work and it had the name of the project with -AV1 at the end of it. What is that all about?

I checked my sequence several times for any errors I could see and didnt see anything wrong. My Sequence settings are MATCHED!!!

I need to export this out so I can burn a DVD so if you have any suggestions that would be great.

Ok well as I was writing this message, I checked my Laptop and it looks like it finally exported correctly! I am not sure why it keeps adding (-av1) at the end of the name of the project that has been exported! Anyone know why? It seems as though it exported 2 files this last try! I have one with the -av1 at the end and one without. The one without is the file that actually plays with no problems!

Thanks

To me it sounds like there was a problem reading media. Whether the media was offline, corrupted, or just having some kind of read issue, I'm not sure, but that's what it sounds like from your description. As for the -av1, that's also a typical file created when there was some form of error. I don't know the reasoning behind it well enough to really address it farther than that. I just know that when I've had problems and had failed digitizes and exports I would sometimes get the same files. Why FCP does it, can't tell you, but you're not the only one to have ever gotten such. Good to hear it worked out for in the end.

cheers.

The only thing I can come up with is that I have both 29.97 and 23.98 footage on the same timeline. Now what I did was I edited the 23.98 footage in a whole seperate sequence with the pulldown removed and exported that footage as a self contained movie file. I went back to my normal 24p timeline and imported the 23.98 self contained movie file and placed that clip within the 29.97 timeline. So maybe that is what caused this to happen.
