Selecting and Moving Multiple clips

Simply put, how can I select multiple numbers of vid and sound clips at once to move the entire timeine back a bit to make room for another peice of vid? so I don't have to go through and hold control while trying to make sure I click them all.

Change your edit tool from "Normal Edit Tool" to "Selection Edit Tool" (mouseover the icons in the toolbar to see which is which).

Then you can click and drag to select multiple events. They are effectively grouped until you deselect them. Then you can drag em wherever you want.

If you want to push other stuff further down, read up on post-edit ripples.

Select All, make them a group, and move them down. And probably do a Remove From Group afterward. There are menu items for all of the that.

Or Ctrl-A, then G, then move them, then U to ungroup (assuming they're still selected)

Place the cursor before the events you want to move. From the insert Menu, choose Time. Type in how much time you want to move the rest on down the timeline.

If you ungroup them all, though, you'll ungroup the audio from the video, too. Just be aware.

It doesn't just undo the last grouping? I thought it did.

Well...it should. What's Sony's phone number?

Well, true...but I usually end up moving them all down a bit, inserting the new footage (titles, mostly) in front, then sliding them back down to meet it.

Yes. I know. And I have started using the ripple thingie...but I've screwed that up more than once, so far. Maybe after some more practice I'll get competent.

Real quick. How do you move footage back once you've moved it forward, as in the above post? I know I should read up on this, but I'm trying to get this film together and I'm running out of time. Could you please give me a few quick commands for rippling?
