Sekonic C-700

Just added the Sekonic 700 to my arsenal and I am extremely happy. Initially using traditional colormeters and emergence of LED there was definitely a disconnect. I could not see spikes in certain frequencies and that would cause problems in post and grading. This particular shoot was very fast and solely lit with LED lights mixed with overhead fixtures. As you can see the we could easily see spikes in the graph and dial them out in the camera. I also started saving the individual readings and bring them to grading session. You can also get a reading with a target Color Temp and it will tell you which gels to use to achieve the CT you selected. Still diving into the higher functions, I would recommend everybody demo one.

I saw this at NAB and the one problem I have at at least from the discussion with rep, was that while one could get PDFs of the displayed spectra, one could not get numerical values (like CSV file of frequencies vs color value) for more 'exact' comparisons.

But yeah, it does show the spikes of the non-continuous spectra form various sources.

Yes you do, for example our Alexa can dial out Magenta or add green. You can also dial in very small fractions of color temperature.

Additionally you can have DIT on set pull up a certain LUT to determine how much you can push the image in post.

You can also set a target color temperature with the with the sekonic and it will tell you which filters to use to tweak your lights.

Our Varicams can even go much deeper in adjustments as well as the F5-F55.
