Seed & Spark - the future of indie filmmaking?

My gut reaction to that... is that it's a great example on how things don't work.
Well I'm sorry for saying so, but that doesn't sound very independent!
So who wants to be independent?
You need marketing, you need distribution.
Do it yourself instead of making another film, or find a professional who wants to do it and make another film.

As long as you need an audience to watch your film, you're not actually independent anyway.

They're right about one thing though. Thousands of films are made each and every year that nobody hears about and it's got nothing to do with their quality.

But here's the thing: the reason people watch movies is so they can have something to chat about in the lunch room with the people they have nothing in common with.
That's why new films are watched and talked about. Everyone knows MAN OF STEEL or the latest Woody Allen movie, or the latest episode of MAD MEN. It's popular culture, what people that don't have anything in common have in common. It's a shared connection.

This is the vast majority of people, and the people whose attention you require to have a career as a feature filmmaker.
This just looks like another attempt at engaging an audience that doesn't exist.
