OK so here is a thread that will probably only be of interest to Coffee and Lyons but maybe a few others will get a kick out of it and have humerous and mocking quips.

wanna see me "act" in a New Orleans Sain'ts commercial? I'm "the Sain'ts Fan".

Its real player so no need to "right click/download" ... just click
If it loads sound but shows a black screen, just hit the back button on the video pane and the image will appear.

you can get that player free here if you want it:

This was shot on a giant Sony (I think) HD camera that looked like a film camera
don't know what kind but its big enough to have that big round trash can sized base like TV studio cameras

I was in a commercial shot on the DVX that I was going to post in the clips section, but I can't find a clip of that.

You have to know sports to get the joke. So incase you don't, know that the Saints suck and never have a winning season but have loyal local fans anyway and then you can sort of get it.

EDIT: If you have trouble with the direct link to the commercial above you can download it from this page:

its the spot entitled "Waiting Room"

Hey, that's pretty cool. :)

While you weren't looking, we (Oklahoma City) stole your NBA team. In fact, I'm part of their camera crew on every "home" game.

This, of course, has little to do with your "hot head" jib, right Terry? Let me know more about it when you get the chance... Really dig the Varizoom head, how do you like it?

Oh, hey Jack!

Jack - The Hornets have a 2-year deal with OKC and I've heard there is a good chance it will become permanent.

Brian - I have a EZ-FX jib with a Varizoom remote control pan/tilt head. I like it OK, but there are some limitations and quirks. Overall, you can get some really cool shots. That said, I haven't used the thing in four months. :(

I've been meaning to make it down to OKC for a game terry, thanks for reminding me!

I remember those Hornets, they used to be here in Charlotte before we decided we didn't like them and they went to NoLa... Looks like their appeal fades pretty quick...

That's a great gig Terry, congrats! Nice commercial Jack!

Yeah, they're the knockabouts of the league, but OKC is thrilled to have an NBA team. They are sold out through November.

I'm amazed that they are selling out there. When they were still here in Charlotte Mime suicides were drawing more people than they were. I think that's great though, plus gives you a great gig!

HA! That was funny man!

Stellar reaction to the unexpected hand clap! Your lip acting was some of the best I've seen in commercial work this year! Superior "sleepy" look, easily the best in the room. And that sleep depraved yawn made me yawn!

Seriously though, that was a good commercial and nice job. Thanks for sharing!

I download Real player for you, buddy. I hope you understand what a dilema that was for me.

That was good, I liked it. How did you go about getting commercial work?

Well thanks but I don't know if it was worth any dilemma.

This thread is basically like a kid getting a shoe box from under his bed and saying hey guys look at my pet rock ... so hope it was worth it.

I got the work through my agent.

There was a mini film / TV boom in New Orleans before the hurricane because of the good locations and riculous tax incentives. In fact a major studio (forget which now) was building a studio here just before Katrina. There were 3-6 movies (studio, independent, TV) being made here any given month.

My undergrad degree was in Acting, but I never really pursued it and instead became a theatre director. But when the boom hit here I was like -- this is crazy, I would be nuts not to do this.

With my theatre directing background and minimal acting credits it was stupidly easy to get an agent - a single meeting at starbucks after a phone call, it aint supposed to be that easy and I knew it would be here, so I toolk advantage of it so if we ever move back to NY or ever move to LA for the 1st time (both are options) then I would hopefully have some credits, and would have already had representation at somepoint.

But basically I've looked at it as temping that doesn't suck and has been a decent suplimental income. I'm about 30% on landing commercials, but I can never even get a call back for a freaking film.

I've auditioned for Big Mammas House 2, Failure to Launch with Matthew Mcaugnehy (sp?), and some other stuff like that. I didn't even get called back for Fisherman #2 in Vampire Bats, and I thought that was my best audition -- and I'm not joking. He had one scene where he saw the vampire bats coming and then they ate hime while he screams "Christ no! Start the boat! Start the Boat" etc. One of the staff at the hotel burst into the room during my audition not knowing what was going on and thinking someone was really being attacked in there - and still no focking call back.

Oh well, its all a goof for me, temping like I said. Hopefully that stuff wil come back here although now that I have a car I can go on some auditions in Baton Rouge.

Unless Oklahoma City takes our film industry too.

YO send me your autograph dude!!!!!!!!!! LOL just kidding..

That's great brother! I did a micro touch commercial about a year ago which was fun doing. I'm saving your commercial, adding it to my "cool" vids..... You da man Jacko!

Lookin' good! Congrats on the spot. Although from your avitar I though that you were younger then that- nice sleeping through the majority of the spot, I love the "Yah Hoo" and the gray sweater too.

Just kidding- You did great- fun spot to have in your collection.

Dude I'm only 8 years older than you, I'm 33. I'm just premature gray w/receding hairline. When I go to the zoo the silverback gorilla stares at me the whole time (no joke). Plus they were shooting everything with green gel over the lights and trying to make everyone look old and sickly.

 *Going out to buy box of Just-for-Men brown now*
