Security Equipment Tags

Anyone have any experience with any security tags to put on equipment? Any web/brand recommendations? Looking for something resilient to put contact info on for camera, cases, tripods, etc.

Mods, I apologize if this is in the wrong place, wasn't sure where to put it.

I looked into this, and wanted to get some labels made like the rental house has. Unfortunately the quote was $1k for 100 labels....so I went the old vinyl sticker route instead.

I was looking at Maverick this morning... good to know that their solid. Thanks.

A solid and affordable choice:

Maverick Label:

For simple needs, look at their ID My Stuff labels:

Looks like a good page to start on:

Good stuff, good prices.

I know there is some label choices out there where you actually register the gear with the company or something along those lines (stoptheft.com) and those run you around $10/label.

Holy Cow. Who did you get that quote from and exactly what kind of labels and size? What type makes a BIG difference in price(also, the more you order, the more the 'per label' price drops. It can actually be cheaper to order more than you need). I used https://www.myassettag.com/ to do my new labels last year. I did 700 flexible aluminum 1 1/2" x 3/4" with company name, phone number, my name and bar code for less than $550($77.50 per 100 tags/ 77.5 cents per tag). They look great and professional, but if you do not need the label to be flexible(for rounded or curved gear), I would say try the "solid"(non-flexible) aluminum labels. The pliable labels are not as sturdy as I thought and I have already had to replace some that have been damaged on case exteriors. Funny enough, the laminated "P-touch type" labels I had used for years stood up better in some places compared to the aluminum. Next time I may order the 'solid' labels for more high-wear items, like cases.

Anyone know someone with a laser cutter? Just have them emboss some metal tag shaped pieces. Stamped metal would be better, but probably more costly unless you can find a used machine to press soldier's dog tags.

You could also do this on just about any cheap CNC router with the correct engraving bit. I may buy a small router soon, maybe this would be something people would be interested in doing? Should be able to turn out aluminum tags for a few dollars a piece in materials and figure out what kind of time I'm looking at to deal with each run. If I could make a couple hundred bucks total, I think that might push me to buy something now. How many people are in and what kind of prices would you be willing to pay for routed aluminum tags? And what size tags would you want?

I would probably use 6061 alloy, it is fairly corrosion resistant, though I could anodize if needed, just takes me a lot of time which equates to either a lot of money or a lot of lost profit.
