Securing a portable DVD player

I'm looking for ideas on a "leave behind" portable dvd player. this is one where you leave it behind to display your work. I have a 7 inch one bought for $250. I see at its potential to show work and lure in new clients. Nothing like seeing it on the spot, but i don't want people to run off with it either..

I have thought of a cable-locking system, but that is a little too restrictive and looks bad.

Engraving the dvd player so it is not as a desirable steal? the engraving would probably look crappy though if done by hand.

whatcha think?

..leave it behind where?

i have one, and ive set it up at events for potential clents to view my reel and sample stuff and such, but it was always in my sight. i wouldnt really leave it anywhere. even though its a high class sort of meeting. :-/ IMHO its better to be able to be there and pitch to people when they are viewing it anyway..otherwsie they tend to be quietly entertained, and then carry on like they just watched TV for a min or two. but ..you never know!

leave it behind at a bridal store. The whole "bridal dress entourage" is usually just sitting there for the hour..

leave it behind at a venue

leave it behind at the dress designers

leave it behind at the makeup artists' studio. brides often go for a "makeup trial"

Send it to someone with your DEMO in it, return postage-mailing already arranged. YOUR DEMO WILL BE VIEWED, likely, on the spot. Pricey for postage, yes, but they will watch it and hopefully return it.
( wedding planners )

just a few ideas.

..those are some great ideas.. i dont do the wedding thing, but i can see how if i did ..doing those things could potentially bring in alot of business. although IMHO i wouldnt mail it out.. just the DVD. ;)

Re: Securing a portable DVD player

Really super idea. Could you create a plexiglass "fishtank" for it and secure the tank with a cablelock and maybe encode the DVD to Autorepeat immediatly after the presentation? this makes it cumbersome to steal but alas also cubersome to the partner.
