Second place to the G35?

Charli

cool little "title"
I have just flipped through 50 pages of this section and I figured that most of
you love the sweetness of the G35. It however does not appear available at
this time (unless someone knows where I can get one?).

So my question, is what is your second choice. Let's say you have 3 weeks to
get all of your gear together and all that is missing is this adapater. Which would you
settle for?

I've searched 50 pages, got another 160 to go, but yet to read a clear,
definitive answer in what is second best.

By the way, there is a wealth of info here, thanks for that. I'm learning a lot.

I'm in the same place as you. I've been considering the M2. I'm a little concerned about the how hard it is to set up. This is for my DVX-100 (non A).

I agree, I'm looking at the M2, I'm impressed with Redrocks. Though I'm unfamiliar with the "hard set up" issue..

check out the DIY section, some good stuff there.

FilmMakerr makes a good point. bklyndv is about to start selling his adapter, and it's rather good. If you were going with a static I'd go with that one. There are others out there. Personally I wouldn't bother with the M2 for the cost of the system. You could make your own much cheaper. And if you know where to get the right materials you could make it a bit better.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you haven't used an adapter before (which you may or may not have) it's not as easy as shooting without one. You will need more light, regardless of the adapter, and you should probably have a large monitor to check focus on. Keep this in mind before counting an adapter into your workflow. If you've used one before then you probably know the challenges/options that come with it. Good luck.

Why does noone talk about the LETUS35 original... i have got some really great footage with it. It is not easy, but we take advantage of the ease of shooting on miniDV. Mess with in camera settings, leave the manual lense all the way open, your footage will look great.

No, never used an adapter before. I do however like the cinematic quality that
springs from the screen with them, so my mind and body is ready to tackle the task.

Thanks for the info, which still in a way leaves me in the dark as to what is available
right now. How soon will that user be selling his model?

Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the dyi section. I hadn't noticed that section before.
Thanks.

I have had an M2 since they debuted and I had it up and running within 10 minutes of first opening the box (I have a DVX-100a). The M2 is simple and comes pre-calibrated for the DVX (hyperfocal dist, etc.) I've seen examples of the other adapters footage and none can compare to an M2 with the new Cinescreen ground glass. Of course, the M2 would not be ready in the 3 week span of the original post. But, if you can wait, go for the M2.

Thanks, Karl. Appreciate the input. After searching the threads it appears the
Go35 is the close second and the M2 in third.

At least I'm getting it.

i'm torn between the m2 and sgpro. timur is super excited about his sgpro and he's tried a few different adapters with his own hands. the footage from both looks awesome. the m2 is $1000 and the sgpro should be $700, so i'm leaning toward the latter. all other adapter footage i've seen so far has CA or a misty softness that is ultimately off putting.
