I know this sort of thing happens in Europe sometimes, but this is the first I've ever heard of it here in the States.

(And I worked the match yesterday... the second half really was *that* bad)

I worked a BBQ at a community college football game last year; there were issues with the lighting, and neither team took to the field after warm-ups because portable lights couldn't be brought in. Granted, it wasn't played, but everyone in the stands was refunded. The crazy part about it was that, even though the stands weren't full (they stopped letting people in once they found out about the lighting issue), we made more money than usual, because the football players ran out of food, and were under the presumption that portable lights would be found... for three hours.
