SDX-900 DVCPro50 footage & FCP

Hello,

So a few years ago I filmed my first feature film using an SDX-900 on DVCPro50, and have been editing in FCP (starting with 4.x, and now 6.0.2).

Because of FCPs feature when you add footage to a sequence timeline that isn't quite right I've discovered that all of the previous edits I had made for the film on 4:3 timelines which were letterboxed were not able to be transfered to a new 16:9 timeline, so I'm in the process of recreating all of my previous edits.

One additional concern that I have is this: All footage on the SDX-900 was captured at 16:9 at 24P. However, when I view the QT files in FCP they indicate that they are DVCPro50 - NTSC with a frame rate of 29.97 fps.

After I've added them to the timeline their time base goes from 00:00 to 00:29 then 01:00. If I advance through all 30 frames in that sequence they seem to be distinct frames, but I'm not certain if they're somehow just inerpolations of my 24P footage into 29.97 for NTSC playback.

The other thing I've noticed is that the clips when opened in the viewer often appear very interlaced, but when I play them from my timeline to a reference monitor on the canvas, they look perfect with just regular motion blur but no interlacing artifacts.

Given what I've described, when I go to export my new set of timelines for DVD authoring, will the footage get displayed correctly without interlacing and at 24P?

Thanks,

~Jonathan
